Little Rocky Run Community Center

Are you a clown? Magician, Face Painter, Juggler, Story Teller, or other type of children's entertainer? Then, you are invited to join JCA for a special afternoon with food, friends, and fun. Meet the members of JCA and see what we do. Bring a prop for a prop swap. Join in on a balloon jam. Network with other area children’s entertainers. It will be a pleasure to see you there.

The members of JCA aren't just clowning around... They are children's entertainers. In addition to being clowns, most members also do other things including face painting, balloon twisting, magic, and juggling. Several members become characters for the holidays including Santa and Mrs. Claus for Christmas.

In addition to the food, games, and swap table we had last year, we will have vendors including:

  • Every Day's a Holiday (costumes & more): Carol Coleman
  • Wolfe Bros. face paints: Carol Turman
  • Glitter Tattoos: Jody Rodgers
  • Arla Albers: retirement sale of her clown things

Want to Get Involved?

We are busy getting everything ready for the Open House... We have been discussing various ideas including having a balloon jam, prop swap, gift bags, raffle, and more. We need to finalize the plans, get the word out, setup before the event and clean up after the event. If you want to help, send an email to OpenHouse@JustClowningAround.org

JCA members are encouraged to come in their clown costume and ready for a party.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question about the Open House and Prop Swap? Check the list to see if it has been answered. If not, send your question to OpenHouse@JustClowningAround.org and we will try to get you an answer.

Q - Do I need to RSVP?
A - Please let us know if you plan to attend so we can estimate how many people to expect at the open house. We realize that plans change and that a paid gig may take priority.

Q - Do I need to be there the entire time?
A - We have a flexible schedule for the Open House. Come when you can and stay as long as you like.

Q - Can I bring a guest such as my husband, wife, or kids?
A - The event is for the children's entertainers but will be family friendly. Parents will be responsible for their own children. Although we don't have activities planned for children, we are clowns, magicians, face painters, jugglers, so they will be entertained.

Q - Can I invite other children's entertainers?
A - We are doing our best to get the word out to the area children's entertainers, but we don't know everyone. If you have a friend in the Northern Virginia/DC Metro area who is a children's entertainer, invite them to come.

Q - What should I wear?
A - Come dressed as you feel comfortable. Many members of JCA will come in their clown costumes. You can come dressed like you would for a party or in plain clothes. We have invited people who are not clowns (at least not yet) so you can fit in either way.

Q - What should I bring?
A - Bring your business cards, a prop or two for the prop swap, maybe a trick or two to show others, some balloons for the jam, pictures, or anything else you like.

Q - How will the Prop Swap work?
A - We are working on this... This will most likely be a garage sale. You can donate your item to JCA to sell. We are a not for profit organization. Put your name and suggested price on any item.

Q - My question wasn't answered, what should I do?
A - send your question to OpenHouse@JustClowningAround.org.
